Happy feast of the Ascention!

Today has been just another reminder to myself that I don't work very well amidst the loud and hasty. On such days, I find myself trying to tame the noise with sugary whispers, while retreating back into a quiet shell and daydreaming of calm and recollected people and places. Calm, laid-back, self-motivated and wise: a description both of the perfect professor and of my ideal friend. (Not that I pretend to most of that!)
